Our wildlife camera at Pole Mountain Preserve caught this western gray squirrel (Sciurus griseus) handling an acorn. In oak and pine woodlands, western gray squirrels collect and stash seeds and cones—many of which they forget in the ground—in turn, planting countless new trees.
