Suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez pleaded not guilty to racketeering related to an illegal gambling ring, as prosecutors claim his involvement dates back to 2019.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was charged with one count of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to commit racketeering, prosecutors said.

Suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez pleaded not guilty on Friday, one day after he was arrested on felony charges. Lopez was placed behind bars after statewide prosecutors said he was involved in an illegal gambling enterprise since August 2019, while he was a deputy for the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
