Igloo is recalling more than 1 million of its coolers sold across the U.S., Mexico and Canada due to a handle hazard that has resulted in a handful of fingertip injuries, including some amputations.

According to an alert by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Texas brand has recalled over a million coolers after discovering the flaw. The recalled coolers have a tow handle that can pinch the user's fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.

More than one million coolers sold in North America were recalled after a dozen injuries. Consumers are advised to stop using them and contact the company.

Recalled rolling coolers were sold for a six-year period by retailers nationwide including Amazon, Costco and Target.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice Thursday for Igloo's 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers, saying the coolers' tow handles have the potential to cause injury, pinching a user's fingertips against the cooler and leading to crushing or fingertip amputations.

Igloo advised customers against using the affected coolers any further until they can get a new handle from the company.
