She was one of an estimated 20 people were rounded up during surprise check-ins at the ICE Intensive Supervision Appearance Program offices in Chicago.

Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda was called to what she thought was a routine check-in with immigration authorities. Instead, ICE agents took her and around 10 others into custody.

Immigration advocates and several alderpersons gathered outside the building as the arrests were in progress. They say federal agents detained at least 10 people who had shown up for a routine immigration appointment.
