Gov. Ron DeSantis told reporters the state is planning to hold another 2,000 detainees at the Camp Blanding migrant detention facility.

President Trump on Tuesday toured the site of a new immigration detention center in South Florida that state officials are calling "Alligator Alcatraz." Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem are visiting the facility alongside the president.

A key selling point for the White House is the site’s remoteness near swampland. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt says, “A detention center surrounded by alligators, yes, I do think that’s a deterrent for them to try to escape.
