The latest atmospheric river arrived on Wednesday in the Bay Area with damaging winds bringing down trees, the threat of thunderstorms, and possible snow in the highest peaks.The storm which began sweeping over the North Bay in the morning was sliding south throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Bay Area’s latest storm system delivered a powerful mix of heavy winds, scattered thunderstorms and steady rainfall. Though flooding wasn’t reported Wednesday, the gusts were strong enough to knock out power.

Strong winds and rain from the atmospheric river storm hitting the Bay Area caused thousands of PG&E customers to lose power on Wednesday, the utility said.
