Sovereignty won the 157th running of the Belmont Stakes, capping off a dominant year for the three-year-old horse, who won the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.

Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty added a second leg of the Triple Crown by winning the 2025 Belmont Stakes in much the same fashion as he did the Derby on Saturday.

The victory means that Sovereignty won two of the three races in this year’s Triple Crown series. Sovereignty is the first horse to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes since 2018, when Justify did it as part of his Triple Crown-winning campaign.
