Firefighters are working to put out a half-acre grass fire in Griffith Park, burning on a slope. The fire was reported around 1 p.m., at Glendower Avenue and Nottingham Avenue on a rural hillside. Griffith Park is home to such L.A. landmarks as Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theatre, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Hollywood Sign. It also contains the Travel Town Museum as well as a merry-go-round.

Griffith Park and other Los Angeles-area parks were closed Monday due to the increased risk of wildfires to start the week in Southern California.

Yet another fire broke out in Los Angeles on Monday, this time in Griffith Park. But first responders were able to quickly extinguish the fire, putting the quarter-acre blaze out in just 31 minutes.
