Over 6,600 flights were delayed and more than 1,900 canceled in the United States on Sunday as the government shutdown’s impact on air travel grows more significant ahead of the holidays.
The Federal Aviation Administration is forcing airlines to cut 10% of their flights at 40 of the busiest airports across the nation to reduce pressure on air traffic controllers during the ongoing government shutdown and ensure that flying remains safe.
The ongoing cancellations come as Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warns air traffic could "slow to a trickle" as Thanksgiving approaches.
