California Republicans are making the trip to our nation's capital to watch the inauguration ceremonies. Festivities and security measures are underway as President-elect Donald Trump gets ready for his second inauguration.

Californians attending the inauguration are hopeful and optimistic about the future and they also hope the country can unite and move forward.

Some were happy that the traditional plans to hold the inauguration outside were scrapped at the last minute; others were disappointed but understanding.

Several prominent Californian politicians were in attendance at the Capitol for the swearing-in, including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield. Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., was there, and Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino, a member of the Democratic House leadership, helped lead colleagues into the Rotunda for the ceremony.
