After winning a national championship with Ohio State on Monday night, backup quarterback Devin Brown made a quick decision to move on from the team.
According to multiple reports, Brown has decided to transfer to Cal after three years wearing the Scarlet and Gray. Had he decided to stay, it was unlikely that he would be handed the starting job with Julian Sayin’ the likely solution for next year, with five-star prospect Tavien St. Clair as well as Lincoln Kienholz also in the mix.
Brown will be the frontrunner to start for the Golden Bears next season following the departure of their 2024 starting quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, who transferred to Indiana. The Golden Bears also added highly touted freshman quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, who transferred to Cal after briefly enrolling at Oregon.

After landing freshman Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele from Oregon through the transfer portal Jan. 5, Cal earned a commitment from Devin Brown. The announcement comes just a day after his former Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship.
