Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer and UGA's Kirby Smart had agendas while deciding where to rank Tennessee in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

The final AP Top 25 rankings for the 2024 season were released on Tuesday and the Tennessee Vols came in at No. 9. Tennessee finished the season ranked higher than the Alabama Crimson Tide for the first time since 2007.

There were 54 coaches who voted on the 2024 coaches poll. We took a peek at their ballots to see where they ranked Tennessee.

Two and a half months into the 2024-25 men’s college hoops season, the SEC has made the most of the bigger, badder, and larger basketball leagues. All 16 teams in the league are sitting above .500 overall and have 10 wins or more at this point in the season.

At the conclusion of each season, there are coaches that participate in a panel in which they provide a ballot with their top 25 rankings. One of the coaches that was a part of the panel this year was Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer.

On3 Sports' Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman released their way-too-early top 25 rankings for the 2025 season on Monday and Alabama checked in at No. 14 in the list. SEC rival Texas checked in at No. 1 with Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Notre Dame rounding out the top five.

The Tennessee Vols could be in danger of losing a 2026 three-star commit to one of their top rivals.  According to On3's Chad Simmons, Alabama and Florida are among the programs that are "pushing" for Vols three-star defensive line commit Tyson Bacon.

Alabama football landed at No. 17 in the final coaches poll top 25 of the 2024 season. The Crimson Tide finished off Kalen DeBoer’s first season 9-4 after losing the ReliaQuest Bowl to Michigan. Five coaches left UA out of the top 25 entirely. DeBoer, also a voter in the poll, put his team a bit higher than the average.
