FX won record 36 awards across Primetime Emmys and the Creative Arts Awards, helped by record-breaking showings for 'Shōgun' and 'The Bear.'

With last night’s Emmy Awards, the 2023-2024 TV season has officially come to a close, and by the end of the night, FX came out on top with 36 total wins. The network was second to Netflix in total nominations, but the FX series “Shōgun” and “The Bear” were the two most nominated series of the night.

HBO’s Hacks upset The Bear in the best comedy series category, one of three Emmy Award wins for the series. Hacks star Jean Smart also won the Emmy for best actress in a comedy series, marking her third win in the category over the last four years.

The 76th annual Emmy Awards were handed out Sunday at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. “Shogun” set a single season record for most wins with 18. “Shogun” won best drama series, and Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai won acting awards for their roles.

Quick witted, full of stars, TV reunions and some "Schitt's Creek" nostalgia, the second 2024 Emmy Awards was an inoffensive, pleasurable evening, which is honestly an A+ as far as awards shows are concerned.
