T he long and winding road is taking former New York Yankees pitcher JP Sears back to the minors. MLB Trade Rumors reports that the San Diego Padres demoted Sears to Triple-A El Paso. The Padres acquired Sears last week before the July 31 MLB trade deadline in the blockbuster deal which also sent All-Star closer Mason Miller from the Athletics to San Diego.

The Padres got a big night from their new left fielder, who set them up for a victory. Then their new relief pitcher allowed a mammoth home run on a blazing fastball. So they played a little more, scored five runs in the top of the 11th against Jake Woodford,

The Diamondbacks (54-59) tallied 12 hits and got a strong start from Brandon Pfaadt. One of their five extra-base hits was a home run from recently arrived first baseman Tyler Locklear, his first in a Diamondbacks uniform.
