In a bold move that surprised many, the Green Bay Packers selected former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

Packers quarterback Jordan Love and receiver Jayden Reed immediately reached out to Golden after the draft and offered a warm welcome. After flying in for rookie minicamp, Golden said he's enjoyed meeting his new teammates and reconnecting with Williams, with whom he'll now share a position room.

The Green Bay Packers selected a wide receiver in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. It was the first time a wide receiver was selected in the first round by the Packers since 2002. That was receiver was none other than Texas Longhorns standout Matthew Golden.
