Classic rocker Steve Miller has canceled his U.S. tour because he said severe weather including extreme heat and unpredictable flooding poses a danger to his band, its fans and crew.

The Steve Miller Band’s tour was set to kick off in August and run through the fall, with stops including the final show of Memphis’ Live at the Garden concert series on Sept. 19.

Miller's no dummy, he knows what the people want and he delivers that; namely, the songs filling his monster-selling Greatest Hits 1974-78 set (14 million copies sold in the U.S. to date).

Among his biggest full-length recordings was The Joker, which, Miller noted tonight, is now 40.

Steve Miller Band is returning to Central New York this summer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center in Verona for a July 30 concert.
