Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, was released by Hamas on Monday after he spent more than 580 days held captive in Gaza.

Edan Alexander, the last living U.S. citizen kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage for more than 19 months, will be released from captivity, Hamas said in a statement on Sunday.

"He's very idealistic." With Edan Alexander in captivity, his parents accepted a "hometown heroes" award on their son's behalf in December 2023 from their congressman, Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
