Update: Canyon Fire in Ventura County remains 100% contained as of Thursday evening
Canyon Fire initially started 1:25 p.m. Aug. 7 in Los Angeles, Ventura County, California. After being active for a week, it has burned 5,370 acres. A fire crew of 960 managed to contain the blaze entirely by Thursday evening. The cause is, however, still being investigated.
As firefighters gain more control on the Canyon Fire, some residents are relieved the flames didn't reach their homes.
The blaze had stopped growing at 5,370 acres as it burned near Castaic and the Los Angeles and Ventura county line.
Fire officials say the blaze is threatening power lines as well as the communities of Hasley Canyon and Hathaway Ranch.
