Taiwan’s security service said government networks faced 2.4 million attacks in 2024, most of which are attributed to Chinese state actors

China regards Taiwan as part of its territory and for years has been ramping up military, diplomatic and political pressure on the island to accept its claims of sovereignty.

Cyberattacks on Taiwan government departments doubled in 2024 from the previous year to an average of 2.4 million attacks a day, the island's National Security Bureau said, adding most of them were launched by Chinese cyber forces.

A recent report from Taiwan's National Security Bureau says that cyberattacks against Taiwan doubled from 2023 to 2024, with most coming from China. The report says that hackers are using more sophisticated methods to access confidential information,
