Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty, is set for a rematch with Preakness Stakes winner, Journalism, having finished first and second, respectively, in the first leg of the Triple Crown. Journalism was originally favored to win the 2025 Kentucky Derby with 5-1 morning line odds.

Sovereignty, who entered the race with 2-to-1 odds, defeated a field of seven challengers. Journalism finished in second place.

Sovereignty won the 2025 Belmont Stakes, capping off a terrific Triple Crown season for trainer Bill Mott and jockey Junior Alvarado.
