Four wildfires fueled by ferocious winds are now scorching thousands of acres in Southern California, with zero containment as of Wednesday morning. More than 80,000 people are under evacuation orders in the Los Angeles area.

The Palisades and Hurst fires are “stretching the capacity of emergency services to their maximum limits,” officials said.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who declared a state of emergency, urged residents to evacuate after he witnessed buildings destroyed by the blaze.
