Poor weather conditions prevented search and rescue from sending a team to locate and recover Chiu's body until early in the morning on June 4.

Alex Chiu, 41 of Seattle, died as a result of a 3,000-foot fall from the Mt. McKinley West Buttress climbing route on to the Peters Glacier. After recovery, rangers returned to Denali National Park and Preserve headquarters where his body was transferred to the state medical examiner.

The body of a 41-year-old ski mountaineer has been recovered after he fell over 3,000 feet off of Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America, officials said.
