Series leader Lando Norris grabbed his first sprint pole position of the season on Friday (local time) to keep his title hopes on track as he topped qualifying ahead of Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and his McLaren teammate and rival Oscar Piastri.
Oscar Piastri is in danger of slipping further behind his teammate Lando Norris in the Formula One world championship despite a much improved performance in qualifying for the sprint race at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil.
Verstappen has been been edging closer to the championship lead, but he is still 36 points shy of Norris, and 35 behind Piastri, with 116 up for grabs over the remaining four GPs and two sprints. He has to keep scoring big.
Oscar Piastri was placed in the spotlight by Jos Verstappen, who issued some bold comments before the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Formula 1 drivers laid down the lap in FP1, the sole practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.
