By Philip O'Connor GENEVA (Reuters) -Led by captain Ada Hegerberg, Norway's squad exuded togetherness at Euro 2025, which had been lacking at recent tournaments, but they never managed to find a consistent rhythm on the pitch as they lost 2-1 to Italy to exit the competition on Wednesday.

Captain Cristiana Girelli headed a 90th-minute winner to complete a brace as Italy beat Norway 2-1 to reach the semi-finals of women's Euro 2025 on Wednesday. Girelli struck in off the crossbar as the game seemed to head into extra time after Norway captain Ada Hegerberg had in the 66th minute cancelled out Girelli's first goal in the 50th.

Hegerberg leveled the score in the 66th with her first scoring chance just six minutes after missing a penalty kick for the second time at Euro 2025. Hegerberg ran clear to a long pass and poked a shot past onrushing goalkeeper Laura Giuliani. The slow-rolling ball just beat the Italian defenders in a race to the goal line.
