Stephen Colbert has joined the cast of a CBS series as a talk show host. The news comes after he announced his exit as the host of the network’s The Late Show. It was also revealed at the time that CBS would retire the Late Show franchise altogether in 2026 with Colbert’s departure.

On July 17, Colbert broke the shocking news to viewers that CBS and Paramount had canceled The Late Show, with its final episode set to air in May 2026.

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Colbert is set to guest-star in a season 3 episode of the murder mystery series. Colbert's character will host the fictional show, Way Late with Scotty Bristol, according to Vulture, which first reported the news.
